The purpose of this paper is to encourage the preacher who is interested in preaching the good news to a multi-ethnic community more effectively. This paper is especially geared toward my colleagues in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod whose congregations seem to struggle in those more diverse communities. It advocates preaching as a multisensory, celebratory encounter with the love of God in Jesus Christ that has universal appeal. It also lays out several tools to help the preacher listen to and learn from a diverse community both within and outside the community of faith.
