The uniqueness of the Orthodox Church in its worship tradition is famous. When we enter into an Orthodox church for worship, it engages all our senses. When we see icons, venerating of holy relics, taste the mystical body and blood of Christ, the fragrance of incense from the censer, all five senses invite us to the real presence of God. The same is true with the gift of hearing, the word of God, preaching. Apart from the chanting of worship, we expect to invite the congregation to the kingdom of God through preaching. The major objective of this project focused on Transformation through preaching: The role of preaching in Orthodox worship towards Spiritual transformation.
In the Orthodox Church tradition, sacramental elements are more emphasized and the preaching has become subordinated. Therefore, my effort was to prove that preaching is an integral part of the Orthodox worship for spiritual transformation (Divinization). Through this preaching thesis project, I focused on two things to accomplish the set goal. First, I made a deliberate attempt to introduce the preaching in a new style by incorporating various elements of the D.Min. course and secondly a new time schedule for preaching in the middle of the worship.
