Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church (COS) has grown from a church on the edge of survival to become a thriving church. This project seeks to learn to identify the aspects which led to COS’ transition and how to strengthen and perpetuate them. This project explores the interaction of four factors; the congregation’s intentional culture, its system of governance, the role of visionary leadership and its core theological understanding of a realized eschatology. This project identifies the series of events which led COS to be open to the work of the Holy Spirit in its transformation and the nature of the dynamic system of ministry that has emerged. Finally this project suggests a systemic response of a polarities model for sustaining who and what COS has become as it strives to journey into the future faithful to God’s call.
