Appealing to younger adults is a challenge of most mainline congregations and Byron United Church in London, Ontario, Canada is no exception. The future looks dim for many congregations if they cannot attract new, younger members. Post-modern adults, in general, are “different animals” than older generations, preferring space to come to their own conclusions about theology and faith practices. Congregational pastors should be intentional about preaching appropriately to younger adults within their congregations, while at the same time being sensitive to the senior members. This thesis explores one minister’s creative efforts to preach dynamic sermons that appeal to younger adults without alienating senior members of the congregation.
