This thesis argues that authentic preaching occurs when the preacher establishes a week-in and week-out rhythm combined with a comfortable sermon style and performance skills. The context is two multiple-clergy congregations where the preacher was in the pulpit only once a month, if fortunate, at the first setting and is now in the pulpit preaching regularly at the second church. Besides self-reflection, through journaling, the preacher will use questionnaires to find out from the search committee and church council: Is the preacher in the pulpit consistent with the person you thought you called during the search process? Authentic preaching is more than structure and content; preaching grows out of genuine embodiment of the Word through consistent preaching.
