Preaching is a daunting task when taken in all seriousness. The transitions in a congregation, the assembled people and the preacher can become overwhelming if left without direction. This thesis proposes that the Household of God, as defined by John Dally in Choosing the Kingdom: Missional Preaching for the Household of God, provides one tool to discover our anchor for an abundant life in the midst of transition. Even when the preacher is overwhelmed by the struggles of life and consistent preaching, a healthy congregational system and the grace of God can sustain a ministry. In this particular case, our reality of reflecting the Household of God to our neighborhood gave us grounding to live out God's mission in San Diego. Life in the Household of God provides strength for the preacher as well as the congregation to come to new understandings of our relationship with God.
