This thesis proposes that intentional preaching toward mission and vision will direct a congregation in a more faithful living of the Christian life. The act of preaching, which forms the congregation through the Word of God, has the ability to transform a church so it becomes more intentional in its ministry. This has ramifications for the future of the church, by empowering the church to live the sanctified life more fully. The process of ntentional preaching involves first determining the faith convictions currently held by the congregation, then directing the congregation in discovering its God-given mission and vision, and finally discerning how to live out this new direction. Because preaching works to develop the attitudes and convictions ofthe congregation, the result is a church that is able to carry out more ministry to the benefit of those outside of the church. By doing so, the church reaches more people with the good news of Jesus Christ.
