The focus of this thesis is to use Narrative Preaching for enlivening worship in an African-American traditional church. Goler Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church is a traditional church with a declining congregation. The members of the church constantly rage about their glorious past while agreeing that change needs to take place, however the congregation resists the transition as it moves forward. Narrative preaching helps put the congregation in the midst of the text giving them an experiential encounter within the sermon. It is on this premise that this project was launched to bring new life into the worship service.
