This thesis explores the historical treatment of the visual by The Church and how the importance of the image in relation to preaching has changed over time. By using theories associated with metaphor, symbol, polyvalence and learning styles the thesis develops the argument that there is an important role for digital media in the art of preaching. It further develops that argument into examples of how digital preaching can be developed such that it is integrated into the sermon as a whole, thus the title iPreach.
