This thesis tells the story of a preacher and congregation called together by the Holy Spirit to transform and grow. After attempting first to change the people and then the preacher, the author delivered a long series of sermons based on the missional preaching work of John Addison Dally. Proclaiming the reign of God alive in the world today and the agency to join God’s redeeming work did indeed transform the congregation, not for revitalization in place, but into a deeper and broader understanding of the gospel. Inspired by missional preaching, the members worked together as never before, closed the congregation and spread out into other churches, gifting all of their assets to take root and grow in dozens of other ministries.
