This is a study exploring my transformation as a preacher and my approach to preaching in an increasingly multiethnic congregation, as can be seen in the faces of the people on the title page.' I have learned that an awareness of one's own ethnicity is an essential for preaching in a multiethnic church. The diversity of cultures forced me, as the preacher, to listen to those with whom I am preaching so that the gospel could be understood and embraced by all the listeners. The transformation of me, as a preacher, led to a transformation of my preaching. Members of the congregation of various ethnicities, cultures and ages participated in parish project groups by assisting in the preparation and evaluation of sermons. I discovered that preaching in this context is most effective when it makes the listeners feel invited into the life of the church and into the biblical story. I also learned that narrative preaching and the use of appropriate language is important in a multiethnic congregation. The congregation has responded positively to the changes in the preacher and the preaching. The next challenge before us is to develop a multiethnic leadership team in all areas of church ministry.
