This thesis addresses the role of preaching in shaping a congregation's spiritual identity in line with new pastoral leadership, new vision, mission statements, and core values, and ultimately, a name modification. This project also explores the relation the new spiritual identity has to social justice issues within the global community. The outcome of this project demonstrates how preaching can form and inform the spiritual identity of the listener and the community of faith, consequently motivating the listeners to actively engage and empower others within local and global contexts.
