Historically, African American men and boys have attended church worship. However, for several decades, and counting, at New Canaan Baptist Church of Aliceville, Alabama, more African American men and boys are found at home and other places rather than at Sunday morning worship. In this present age it seems as if African American men are experiencing their spiritual demise. The focus of this thesis is to see if a specific method, an intentional formation and preparation of sermons, or a focus on spiritual principles would influence African American men in the New Canaan community to attend church more often than they currently do.
