The Hip Hop culture has been an emerging force for the last thirty years, but has remained largely ignored by the traditional church largely because of negative media portrayals of violence, drugs, and the misogyny of women in hip hop videos. However, not all members of the hip hop culture are bad influences, and many love God. Is it possible to preach to members of this culture who embrace a different language, attire, art, and most noticeably, music? Can the hip hop culture and the mores of traditional church services co-exist within the same service? Through preaching a series of sermons over a three year period, I have discovered it is possible for these two cultures to worship together with blending aspects of both cultures into one service, where all can receive what God has for them.
