The work of this project is to explore deliberate strategies and interventions in the first several months of a new ministry context that will build community within the congregation, solidify the pastor/congregation relationship, and create an environment of a shared journey of spiritual growth. Interventions of preaching and teaching will be essential components of this project as well as intentional work to maintain the health and enthusiasm of the pastor and the pastor’s family as well. As a result of these interventions I will conclude that intentional preaching to establish the pastor as both leader and fellow sojourner in the early stages of a pastoral call is an effective means to integrate to the congregational system and create an opportunity for continued success.
