Collaborative preaching, as outlined in John McClure's book The Roundtable Pulpit: Where Preaching and Leadership Meet, is a helpful homiletical form for a pastor and congregation seeking spiritual growth and revitalization. Collaborative preaching is respectful of the unique gifts of the pastor, yet thrives on a diversity of views represented within the local church community. It is biblically based, it relies on the use of one's God-given intellect and strengthens the resolve of the local congregation to move into, rather than retreat from the world. This paper tells the story how collaborative preaching was practiced in a New England congregation and how it can help pastors strengthen their preaching and leadership skills.
