This dissertation has been made with Bundong Jeil Church at the center. The district in which Bundong Jeil Church is situated has many houses of residence and arcade. Administratively our church is at Bun-dong, Kangbuk-ku, Seoul. This district has 2 images as the area of green belt (development is limited).
Bundong Jeil Church with 42-year history our church has about 3,000 baptized church members. But our church has showed gradual stagnancy of the speed of growth. For such reason I have the aim of revitalizing church through evangelical activities of Wednesday Evangelism Team as part of coping with the gradual stagnancy. But the lack of consciousness on evangelism and passion on saving the soul of church members has been the impediments. Another impediments is the sense of isolation between the church and local residents.
As the solution of such problems has been urgent, my ideality has been serving local society by making church community revitalized by restoring the essence as the preaching community. In order to operate and implement such ideality I organized the committee of evangelism and had it hold meeting more than once a month to positively support evangelism team. Through the preaching I presented vision to change the consciousness of church members. I could see the increase of the participants in evangelism team through conducting education and conducting ordinary education on the theory and actuality of evangelism mainly for Wednesday Evangelism Team I made them have confidence in performing the activity of preaching in the street. Finally the activity of Wednesday Evangelism Team could change the insight of church members who disliked preaching in the street changed, and I could have the plan of making alternative which can conquer the crisis of the stagnancy of the growth.
Therefore the significances of this dissertation are that our church which has been under the influence of stagnancy of growth of Korean church has been able to be revitalized as the church preaching gospel through the activities of Wednesday Evangelism Team and the positive support of the church and the dedication of the members of the team have greatly affected the future activity of evangelizing local society by bringing the surprising change of elevating the friendly relationship between the church and local residents.
Through writing this dissertation I could recognize the necessity of elevating the late of settlement of church members through educating and training the professional leaders for new family, and at the same time I learned that Wednesday Evangelism Team has brought the result of church revitalization and the settlement of new family. And I could understand that Tuesday Evangelism Team has been the concrete alternative for the ministry of our church in the future.
