This thesis proposes a direct correlation between the preacher's health in body, mind, and spirit and the effectiveness of the preaching moment. This proposal is explored through the transposition and integration of data from several fields of study, including sports medicine, health and wellness, Native American and New Age practices, homiletics, and theology, particularly feminist theology for wholistic applications. Exploration ofthis proposal leads to a conclusion that physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing support effective preaching and cultivate a hermeneutic of incarnation within the community of the congregation. Exploration of this proposal further leads to the recommendation that preachers actively pursue practices conducive to integration of body, mind, and spirit as an integral element in supporting and sustaining effectiveness in preaching and in ministry.
